Destination Wedding in the Dominican Republic- Kansas City Wedding Photography
"Alexa play Almost Paradise by Mike Reno." Every time I reminisce on Kyle and Justine's dreamy beach wedding that song immediately starts playing in my head. Does that mean I've spent too much time watching reruns of Bachelor in Paradise... OR... does it mean that their wedding was the perfect mix of love and fun in literal paradise? Both are totally true.
The opportunity to shoot some of our dearest friend's wedding was honestly a dream come true, add in the beach, the views, all of our friends in one spot?! I simply don't know if I'll ever recover. Most don't know this, but the reason my photography business even remotely started to take flight was because of Justine. I had the half baked idea to start a photography business a few weeks after my son was born, I bought a camera, took hundreds of pictures of him and my husband then stalled. I had no idea where to begin, how to book sessions, etc., until one afternoon Kyle and Justine came over to watch the Chiefs game, the very Chiefs game that Taylor Swift made her first debut at Arrowhead may I add, and while the guys chatted we started to talk about my dreams to become a photographer. Justine offered to let me practice on her and Kyle for their engagement pictures and holy moly, to this day they are some of my favorite pictures I've ever taken! Fast forward a few months, Justine asked me if I'd be interested in photographing their wedding in the Dominican Republic, I'm not sure how fast the word "YES" came out of my mouth but I'm certain is was lightning speed.
When I say Justine is THE MOST chill bride I have ever met, know I'm saying that with my whole chest. She is kind, she is thoughtful, and she can take any obstacle in stride with the best attitude I've ever seen. Add Kyle into the equation with his ability to be understanding, empathetic, and compassionate and you have the match made in heaven that this couple truly is. They created an environment where all their friends were having TONS of fun, but were relaxed and in the moment enjoying the company of one another whole heartedly. Kyle and Justine said "I do" in front of a gorgeous ocean view and then partied the night away on the beach below.

Couple Q&A:
What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples planning their wedding?
"Don't sweat the small stuff! It's almost impossible for the day to be perfect but anything that isn't perfect shouldn't matter. What matters is your spouse and all of the love and support that your guests are providing! Enjoy the day and don't worry about the details!"
What was your favorite part of the planning process?
"My favorite part was the end! Not because I was done planning but because I could see the whole picture. I was able to envision the day and it was exciting to know it was right around the corner!"
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
"My favorite part of the day was the party! I love music and dancing so being out on the dance floor with all my favorite people was the best part of the night for me! Of course the ceremony and signing the wedding certificate was beautiful and amazing but lets be real, everyone loves a good party!"
