Kansas City Micro Wedding at the Nelson Atkins

Bigger isn't always better, especially when it comes to weddings. If you and your partner are the type of people who enjoy a more private kind of life but still want to share the milestone of a wedding with your closest friends and family, then a micro wedding might be the perfect thing for you. Meghan and Gerrit wanted a day of simplicity, connection, and significance, so surrounded by only their parents and siblings they said "I do" in the beautiful Sculpture Garden at the iconic Nelson Atkins. The ceremony was officiated by Meghan's brother and all parents and siblings stood with them. It was such a sweet and intimate ceremony that included a hand tying ceremony that was a tradition to Meghan's family. After the ceremony ended, we walked around the Nelson Atkins getting absolutely STUNNING pictures of the newly married couple at some of the most well known locations at the museum. The day ended at the Wolfepack BBQ with a first dance in the parking lot (every couple deserves a first dance in my opinion), Ben Rector's "Love Like This" played while I just snapped away. Meghan and Gerrit are such a sweet couple, when I asked them what are some of the most important images they wanted to walk away from the day with, Meghan answered, "Gerrit is a very ironic/silly person so we'd love some funny moments to take home. I, on the other hand, would love some more emotional/intimate feeling images. So might be an interesting blend haha." It was the perfect blend! Even with the cloudy overcast with the possibility of rain the went seamlessly and the pictures speak for themselves!

Couple Q&A:

Tell me a bit more about yourselves. What do you love to do together? How long have you been together?

"We've been together for 3 years but we've known each other for like 23 years (we went to the same school). Our day-to-day is a lot of home projects and horror movies, with working out as a more recent addition. Our favorite dates are concerts or performances at the Lied Center for Performing Arts in Lincoln, or just walks around parks for Pokemon. We love our periodic trips to Kansas City. In the summer we wrangle a vegetable garden for at least a few months before we give it back to the weeds lol Gerrit is a biochemist with an animal pharmaceutical company, and Meghan is a personal banker."
